Production Manager for Tunable Diode Laser Gas Sen...

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will lead the production and test operations in the effective management and utilization of resources performing the manufacturing and testing of analytical measurement systems in the Rancho Cucamonga production facility. Leading is accomplished through team leaders, indirect team members and coordinating capacity with Material Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, Inside Sales and Operations Management. This position is responsible for achieving operations objectives for on time delivery, growth, product quality, customer satisfaction and employee engagement and motivation.
Essential duties include:
Will be the primary point of responsibility for daily production and test operations management.
Ensures optimization of all production and test activities for multiple product lines, with direct responsibility for productivity, cost controls and on time delivery.
Develops and executes plans for efficient utilization of materials, equipment and team members
Reviews production and test costs, quality and delivery metrics and continually improves processes and procedures to enhance and improve profitability.
Implements Lean manufacturing principles to efficiently manage problem solving, standard work, continual improvements and 5S.
Drives culture change, accountability and continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization.
Ensures employees work in a safe manner and follow all safety and environmental procedures
Develops, coaches and mentors direct and indirect reports to drive employee engagement, teamwork and job satisfaction. Will set work objectives and will track and measure staff performance against those objectives on a regular basis.
Develops and implements development and training programs for Operations personnel and measure progress against those goals.
Supports Manufacturing Engineering in process improvement and cost reduction activities
Supports Design Engineering with new product introduction in the factory.
Ensures compliance with ISO requirements and follows SOP guidelines.
Builds consensus across functional areas of the business, working with multiple internal customers and stakeholders.
Improves and develops organizational capabilities through effective performance management and utilization of human resources.
Other related tasks as required or assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Operations Management, or equivalent experience
5-8 years’ experience in the integrated functions of manufacturing operations management in an environment that has embraced Lean and team concepts, MRP manufacturing practices and strong quality processes
Must possess in-depth technical knowledge of 1.) Test and calibration, 2.) Mechanical (sample cell system plumbing), and 3.) Electronic assembly (soldering, circuit boards, etc.)
Must have experience in operations, inventory and materials management, MRP and Lean manufacturing processes
Must have experience with custom products/orders with the understanding of the level of variation our products demand. The ideal candidate should be resourceful, flexible and open-minded
Must possess a strong customer service orientation and provide dedicated support of internal customer requirements
Must be a proactive change agent and possess strong leadership skills to build and maintain a team oriented environment while leveraging Lean methodologies
Must have solid interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate staff and interact with various departments and various levels of management
Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization. The successful candidate will understand how to motivate their team, develop positive relationships and understand how to address individual concerns.
Must be flexible, decisive and a proactive problem solver
Must possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple priorities at once
Must be able to work well in a high pressure, fast-paced environment and be proficient at conflict resolution with the ability to balance immediate and long term priorities
Must have MS Windows and MRP/ERP proficiency (Syteline preferred)
Experience in ISO 9000 standards preferred
A background in Instrumentation is preferred
Working knowledge of HR / labor management experiences
Proficiency in launching new products and engineering changes
Physical Demands: This position is located primarily in a manufacturing environment. The position requires sitting for long periods of time and requires the use of PPE with the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.

Supervises: 2 Production Supervisors; 15 direct reports consisting of assemblers and test technicians
