Abstract:
Since 2007, Alluxa has rapidly grown from a small startup to a global leader in precision thin-film coatings. Much of that success emanated from the team’s aptitude and desire to solve the most challenging customer problems, so much so that we engineered a proprietary deposition process to manufacture our own brand of high-performance optical filters.

Alluxa’s SIRRUS™ Plasma Deposition process allows precision wavelength control and extremely uniform coatings, even for large format parts. Our mechanical and electrical engineers have designed and built all of the company’s coating chambers, and our physicists and software engineers have created a sophisticated thin-film coating process capable of making automated adjustments to layer thicknesses and uniformity in real time. The result: unparalleled ability to meet the most demanding spectral requirements with highly customizable capabilities.

This discussion will explore why Alluxa is differentiated from competing PVD technologies, in addition to presenting numerous applications and demonstrated solutions to complex problems. The presentation will also touch upon specifically demanding filter types and their limitations.

About our speaker: Mike started his career at OCLI (now part of Viavi) 35 years ago, after which he helped launch PSI-Max Optics (now part of MKS), and co-founded others, including: Cierra Photonics (now part of II-VI), View Dynamic Glass (Nasdaq: VIEW), and Alluxa Inc. In each case, the technology and innovation at each of these companies continues to be an essential part of their success.

Mike has an EE degree from the University of California at Davis and is a named inventor on more than 35 US Patents. He is an avid pilot with commercial and turbine ratings, and enjoys scuba diving, basketball, golf, and trail running.
