OSSC President

-Nicholas J. Croglio, Jr.-

Nicholas Croglio earned his B.S. in Optics from the University of Rochester, M.S. in Optical Sciences & Engineering from the University of Central Florida, and a MS in Management of Science & Technology from OHSU. Currently, he is the Mechanical/Optical Engineering Manager for SpectraSensors developing tunable diode laser spectrometers (TDL) for the gas analytics industry. Previously, he has contributed to laser fusion for Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics, nonlinear optics & ultrafast lasers at CREOL, lasers for the construction industry at Laser Alignment; DRAM repair, resistor trimming, micro-machining, and photo exposure laser systems for semiconductor & FPD industries at ESI and Applied Photonics, VHG systems at Ondax, AR/VR technology at a stealth startup, RF Photonics systems at OEWaves, and led Integration & Test on heterodyne laser interferometer projects at JPL. He has performed hands on engineering, optical design, system engineering as well as managed and led teams. He is passionate about producing solutions and products that make a difference by understanding the bigger picture. He says, “I understand first-hand the volatility and unique challenges that many of our OSSC members face in their work and careers. OSSC has kept me current on optics and photonics through the presentations, tours, and discussions with other members, and provided great networking to solve problems at work and find new jobs. He has been active in the OSSC since 2008 including positions of Membership Chair, Councilor, Arrangements Chair and Vice President. He is also a Senior Member in IEEE, OSA, and SPIE.  “As President, I intend to keep the OSSC growing to enhance the optics knowledge base & industry in Southern California while providing a great value proposition to our members.”
