The Mechanical and Optical Engineering Department has an intern position for this Summer. This is not an optical engineering position and there will be no lens design; however, knowledge of optics is useful, and we build laser products. Additionally, knowledge of mechanics, process development, good writing skills, and working with software, electronics, optics and mechanical hardware is just as useful. The crucial attribute is being able to dig in and learn quickly while completing your tasks and communicating your results.
We have structural testing of TEC's, building of engineering prototypes, Python test and operation programs, IP & Certification testing, optical characterization of components and lasers, documentation of build plans, and many other engineering tasks to help with the development of our TDL spectroscopy systems.
